Caliper pin socket

My mate was trying to change his front pads on Sunday, unsuccessfully.
We needed a 1/4" 12 point socket to remove the pad pins.
Popped down to Halfords but they didn't do one that small.
Anyone know where I can score the correct sized socket to remove the pad pins please?

Re: Caliper pin socket

Hi Fish

I tried all the local outlets I could think of and ended up buying a set of 8 or 10 sockets for a few quid off fleabay.

Buying imperial sized tools is difficult in this country so they generally come in from the US.

Good hunting - Kev

Ratchet up the Harley bling with CruzTOOLS Mini Socket Set

CruzTOOLS™ MiniSet Packs Big Capability into Small Case (17 September 2007)

The new MiniSet™ for Harley Davidson motorcycles from CruzTOOLS™ adds a touch of ‘bling’ plus a large portion of practicality when it comes to tool kits.
Unlike general tool sets, the Californian company has designed the MiniSet to be sufficiently light and compact to carry on a motorcycle. The tools, selected specifically for Harley-Davidsons, are housed in a moulded double-wall case constructed of impact-resistant high-density polyethylene. When closed, the tool set measures just 6” x 4.5” x 1.5”, and weighs less than one pound (approximately 400g).

Central to the kit is a precision 1/4" drive mini ratchet, with 48-tooth gearing that allows fine increments of rotation. The eight-piece socket set is comprised of four six-point sockets (10mm, 3/8”, 7/16” and ½”), two hex bits (3/16” & ¼”), and the all-important Torx® bits (T25 & T27) crucial for Harleys. A two-inch extension is also provided to assist in fastener access. Tools are professional mechanic-grade with a gleaming polished chrome finish and lifetime guarantee.

The CruzTOOLS MiniSet retails for £26.23 inc. VAT.

Call 01306 885111

CruzTOOLS has been making well-planned tool kits for motorcyclists since 1996. A metric version of the MiniSet is also available.

You cold do a lot worse than trying FatBoyz Diner. They have the correct socket for about £5 - and they're quick
