Fatboy wheel in a Road King

I've tried searching...I know it's on here somewhere, but as usual I can't find what I'm looking for.

I'd like to fit a solid Fatboy wheel in the back of my 03 Road King. I think it's been done easily by someone on here, but before I go searching out a wheel, is it a straight swap over.
Thanks.

Brian.

Hi brian
The prob you will have is spindle size, fatbob being 3/4". '02 and later RK's 1". I fitted a S/e fatboy rear wheel to my '01 RK a few years ago no probs

Re: Fatboy wheel in a Road King

I don't have a Fatboy parts book, so can anyone tell me if they ever had a 1" dia. axle at any time. Also what is the rim width of a stock solid wheel. I know I could fit almost any wheel in my RK with some work, but I would like a 16" solid wheel that I could almost swap straight over.
The chrome has gone on my spoked wheel, it's a bastard to keep clean and after doing all the work on the back end to get rid of the rear wheel steering, if I'm going to replace the wheel...I might as well put a wheel in that won't flex under load.
I was hoping to pick up a stock used wheel rather than fork out a fortune for a custom made wheel.

Brian.

I believe you can fit 1" bearings ,also get the wheel polished they look great and are easy to keep clean

Re: Fatboy wheel in a Road King

I put a 3/4" Deuce wheel on my Dyna with 1" axle.

The bearings fit no problem as they are the same 52mm OD.

What you might have to do (well I did anyway) is bore the wheel centre to allow a 1" ID bearing sleeve to fit between the inner races.

Re: Fatboy wheel in a Road King

I put a Fat Boy rear and a glide front on my 04 Heritage no problems. I know its not the same but what I'm saying is that a lot of parts are interchangable these days.

Re: Fatboy wheel in a Road King

Thanks for the replies. I reckon I'm going to put the feelers out for a lateish model Fatboy rear wheel, and see if It'll fit. If it won't, I'll machine it or make some parts up to make it fit.
Are they the same width as a RK wheel...will my tyre be ok widthwise.

Someone suggested polishing it...that goes without saying .
