What do you do if you fancy a change, you are a 'Dyna' man but you don't like all of what you see in the showroom? The talented out there build from the ground up, and create fantastic unique machines, myself up to now would have to settle for the many compromises. So I bought an 09 Street Bob, and set about keeping all the attributes as I saw them and binning all the gear I didn't care for.......out went the black spoke rims, the square cut silencers, the too highbars, the slash cut rear fender and the tank mounted speedo, what's left are superglide features with minimal chrome, silver engine ,black barrels, and most importantly to one with shot legs, mid controls. The other Dyna that partially caught my eye, was the Fat Bob, great front end but not sure about the twin headlight, fantastic cast wheels So with a small Ł400 deposit the very nice people at Black Bear, kept the Street Bob over the winter as the various parts kept rolling in from The USA and Europe, the idea was that I would take it all home and do the work myself but in the end it made sense for them to the forks the yokes etc, and as they are in there they might as well do this and then that, and before long you are just left to finish off. So the bike was delivered un registered and untaxed for me to finish at home. I wanted twin disc front end and Earls Performance Products supplied me with all I needed to make up brake hoses of exactly the right length, twin master cylinder, rhs calliper completed the set up once the rhs polished slider had been grafted on by Black Bear, The rear fender is courtesy of Al at Black Bear and we did a straight swap my 09 for his 07, as I wanted a Sportster rear end look.I then moved the rear indicators to the numberplate mount, to fit large Givi soft luggage when touring. An expensive bit was the German silencers from Kesstech, fully automatic, and street legal, across Europe, this safeguards against the bureaucrats for the next few years, and when the handlebar button is pressed, the classic big twin exhaust note returns- Bliss. I had the tank mount speedo moved up to the handlebars, and a silver Low Rider rev counter from the States put in its place. Buckhorns and Stainless Steel fasteners finished off the project and it was ready for the road. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanx phil, yes it is hard not to keep riding it all the time !, it handles much better, than my stock 99 Dyna, I guess the tyre profiles are closer matched.
