Re: Progressive touring link

I've just fitted the other one that Phil had in stock for his own bike....he very kindy sold it to me at a price I couldn't believe. I was going to make my own...exactly the same design as this one. For that price it wasn't worth the hassle. I'm a big believer (or was) of importing my parts from the States to save money, but now, it just isn't worth it when you get service like this from a fellow club member. Thanks Phil and Karen.

A very simple installation without any problems. I took note of the other post about the spring washer, so I was prepared for that, and everything went ok first time. About 1 hour saw the whole job through.

I'd previously fitted Sta-Bo bushes to my Road King, and they're still in there, but I'm inclined to agree with Mr GR Brown about the third link should have been there from day one at build time in the factory. Now I've got both, and after a very brief ride out to test it...no extra vibration was noticed and it may be even better than before. I'll know for sure on Monday when I ride down to Southend.

This link from progressive is very well manufactured from quality materials and well worth anyone with a Tourer getting one. I've recently fitted a centre stand that uses the dog bone crossmember on these frames, and this link misses it by a long way, so you can have both if you want.

The stand was however a different story to fit and make it work like it says on the tin, but after a modification or two....it works a treat now.

If anyone is thinking of fitting a centre stand on their Tourer, I'll explain the problems and fixes required if you think it's worth a new thread.

Brian.

Thumbs up Re: Progressive touring link

Well over the weekend did some proper testing, a 100 plus miles on the finest sweeping bend roads in the region through the likes of Finchingfield and Thaxted and yes the extra link works very well and does make a big differance.

Re: Progressive touring link

After fitting mine, I reported that it was good. In fact it is more than good. I only gave it a brief test after fitting it, but now I've covered about 300 miles, there is noticeably a big difference in handling. I have noticed a little more vibration through the foot boards and handle grips, but I'll live with that.
My problem now is that I'm starting to ride my bike faster into bends, which I wouldn't do before. Then finding out at the last second that it aint going to go round without some serious braking. My riding habits have got to change now. The bike is good now, but my riding is crap
