Re: Cams

I know what you both are saying, I would like to see what both your running mixtures are on the Dyno??

I know mine appeared to be running perfect and not doing that bad on a gallon of fuel, I took it to the Dyno and had it tested after doing something or other,

It suggested the bike was running slightly week at the lower rpm to rectify this I lifted the needle one notch,

It was after that the fuel consumption rocketed!!

I runs even better now, there is no blackening or a smell of unburnt fuel, and it runs much much cooler than it ever has.

ported heads suppertrapp 2-1 exhaust Baker 6 speed baker and a mukuni 42 carb

Sorry Dave but I dont have that information now. I'm going back 8 years or so. I know it wasnt horribly rich or lean and seemed to be around the norm for that type of build.

Re: Cams

Thanks for all your responses.

THis is me planning my next set of changes, probably over the winter.

One thing Dave said interested me, about balanced exhaust systems. I have a PCIII (USB), S&S teardrop but all fitted with V&H bigshots, which I don't believe is a balanced exhaust system.

Would changing this for a 2:1 make that much of a difference?

Cheers, Roy

Sorry i cant help you there, i dont do the sniffer thing with dynos, i have only ever used dynos a couple of times to find out what the figures were.
I personally think that a lot of people that run dynos think they have got you buy the nuts and you are just a means of lining their pockets.....Especially with Harley's

I have always tunned my carbs the way i see fit and always had good results and never any problems....

Fuel injection is a whole different world

Call me sceptical but i think a lot of the EFI tunning stuff is a load of old bollock an all, not all but a lot!
