Re: Tuning an EFI

the obvious thing is to learn the art of maintaining momentum whilst riding, all the time you are braking or accelerating you are wasting fuel, the harder you do it the worse the problem becomes. if you can maintain momentum you end up with a higher average speed that the on/off stop/start merchants (although you won't have to had put your engine thru all the stress) and has a much lower fuel cost (as you won't have wasted the stuff riding on the brake lights of the vehicle in front)

it's a lot cheaper than spending out wads on your engine which you have no hope of recovering in the long run

That may be true, but I suspect you have yet to ride a highly tuned Harley?! There comes a time when, be assured, the investment seems very well worthwhile.

Graham

Thanks for your reply. I don't have serious ambitions for my bike, however would like a bit more 'poke'. Can you please recommend anyone who knows their stuff with Harley engines/EFI?

Cheers, Roy

er howabout a 103" stroker, with 264 cams, se manifold, 21t primary, zodiac 6 speed race box, hi comp pistons, special factory supplied download (and a pro tuner for keeping an eye on things and data logging) dyna - which has also been round cadwell park pulling 95 thru coppice in the rain.

that said, my 80" shovel with andrew J cam, S&S carb, and a trick rear sprocket manages to keep up with staged twin cams and leave the sportsters behind

Roy,

It seems you have done pretty much with your bike as I did myself with mine, before deciding I needed yet more! That was when I turned to an expert. I don't have an EFI bike, but the man I now use is Matts Machine Shop in S Wales.

A few of us here have used him (especially for S&S engines) and it would certainly be worth phoning him for a chat. He recently serviced my bike, so mention my name!

Having recently had some work done to my RK, I would also reccomend Matt's Machine Shop.

Matt.

He is recognised as an authority on the subject. He can also build custom maps and knows a thing or two about harley motors.
