| Engine dies at junction
Out over the weekend a problem developed when slowing up for a junction or roundabout, the engine dies.It restarts instantly although not cleanly. When I pulled up in the driveway it ticked over no prob. Bike has SE force filter,VH slipons, and a power commander. It wasnt a hot day and the bike wasnt being thrashed. The PC is only mapped from a recommended setting available online rather than rolling roaded to set it finer

Kevin, How long ago were the mods you describe done? In other words has the problem just occurred after running OK for a long time? If it has previously run OK, something has 'changed' which may be cured by a thorough service. Alternatively a professional tune-up should crack it. I've owned Harleys since the 70s and it is routine for the poor things to be modified by their owners, to well established 'recipes', but not run quite right! I was one of those myself once. I service mine myself, but get them serviced by an expert every now and then....

I had the same thing a couple of years ago on my EFI Deuce and it turned out to be the fuel. It started straight after a fill-up and took two or three tanks to clear.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. No the local Harley dealer does'nt do Power Commanders, the PC agent is at Whitfield nr Dover, and is a 20 min ride away. Fuel wasnt supermarket fuel but bought from the independant I always use, but I did consider this might be the cause. Brightonia this weekend so Ill see how things go

| Re: Engine dies at junction This wasn't supermarket fuel Graham. I make a point of avoiding that whenever possible. This was one of the most expensive ones in our area at the time and a very well known brand of British Petroleum but I won't say which one!!

Have seen this problem on quite a few 07`s. Usually caused by a defective Idle Air Motor, the vertical black thingy with a connector on it behind the air cleaner. Typical symptoms being intermittent stalling at stops.
