Exhaust Wire wool Gasket

With taking my silencers off and on to change tyre, change exhausts for MOT etc the wire wool gaskets between the balance pipe and each exhaust have disintegrated on my 2006 softail.

I thought I had explained what I needed to the guy in the nearest Harley dealership but got the wrong gaskets.

Can anyone tell what I should have called them, its probably not the guys fault but mine for the way I described the part.

Re: Exhaust Wire wool Gasket

Actually its a bl**dy good description of said part. If you were present in the shop he shoulda shown you the part on the monitor, however there is only the 'wire wool' seal on the balance pipe so quite how he got it wrong I dont know. As to the question whats it called ?, buggered if I know know!

Re: Exhaust Wire wool Gasket

What is the part number of what they supplied?

Then ring Tony aka Blenk at Jersey H-D and get him to look up the part number with the knowledge the ones you have.

Re: Exhaust Wire wool Gasket

FWIW, mine's called a "gasket, exhaust interconnect" and is P/N 65927-00.
That's for an '03 Softail, so your part probably different, but that's what it's called.

Re: Exhaust Wire wool Gasket

Guys thanks for all your help with this one, with Blenk's help I have ordered a couple from Jersey HD. So now the post might be the hold up.

But seriously thanks once again to everybody for all your help.
