Fitting a Progressive Suspension Touring Link

Hi

My new part has arrived today (many thanks to Fatboyzdiner) and after having read the instructions I see to have a vital component missing i.e. a road king factory manual!!

So, could anyone supply me with the following info (an idiots guide with pictures is always good )

1. removal of stock right swingarm mount
2. torque values for to attach new version (should be same as stock)
3. torque values for bolts on transmission pan
4. how do you verify vehicle alignment?? and if not aligned, what the hell do you do?

As always, very grateful for any info recieved. Please feel free to offer any hints and tips above and beyond what i'm asking, save me get snagged up mid fit!!

Cheers

Ruth

Re: Fitting a Progressive Suspension Touring Link

I can't help you until tomorrow, but I'm sure someone will come forward before then. When it's fitted, it will be the best thing you've ever fitted to your Road King. It will seem like another bike.
It's an hours work from start to finish.

Brian.

Re: Fitting a Progressive Suspension Touring Link

Hi ruth

We are closed today but I will be at the workshop this evening when I can get you the information you need.

With regard to the vehicle alignment it is not a prime requirement to fit the link in the first place and you will still notice the difference in the handling on the machine.. however to get the maximum handling you will need to check/get it checked.

You will need a OEM workshop manual to hand to undertake the alignment yourself.

15 ft/lbs for the screws that attatch the L shaped bracket to the oil pan, and 34 to 42 ft/lbs for the two bolts securing the new bracket that mounts to the right side of the frame, hope this helps , info from a 2007 touring manual. Bert.

Re: Fitting a Progressive Suspension Touring Link

No probs any time , I have one of these links fitted to my Glide , really sharpens things up, just be sure to place the two washers supplied between the brackets and the link itself, I stupidly put the washers on the hex head bolts then through the link into the brackets , result was a snapped link after about 300 miles of riding . cost me an extra £45 for a replacement , fit it right and it will serve you well ............. Bert.
