| parts sources hi, where do you guys source your parts from? i know the old bike jumble/vintage show game, but if you don't want to rummage on the off chance that you find what you want in usable nick...etc etc. or constantly monitor ebay etc. where do you guys source nos/repo parts from. i've checked out a few u.s companies, jp, nos parts, colony etc. but is there anyone in the u.k that has pre 80 flh stuff? what i'm after specifically is t-bar, seat plunger assembly, bushes etc to fit a solo saddle. any info much appreciated. thanks in advance. |

| Re: parts sources mine's only a 1985......but from experience as my bike takes Shovel parts, most folks in your situation use eBay and those kind of sources you just quoted. Very little available off the shelf here, you end up going thru V-Twin dealers paying twice what you can from same Stateside. Any shop that is a V-Twin dealer will be most help. But of course they are pattern parts, most made in Far East. nos parts / j w boon (same thing) offer NOS H-D parts and you pay accordingly, as you would have seen. Plenty of Shovel stuff on eBay.....you will get what you want. but I would also post a want advt here......a lot of Shovel action here: http://www.network54.com/Forum/47852/ and if your bike is 1976 or earlier: http://www.omnieye.com/mc/ |

| Re: parts sources Jzk, the stuff you mention is easily available after-market; I do know that SHD, Stoke had some in last time I called. AS KD says, you can get bits at most indies if you're prepared to wait, usually 2-3 weeks depending on when they're putting an order in; however there are a couple of shops that DO speak Shovel (and older) if you urgently need stuff off the shelf. You could try Riverside, Putney Bridge Road, London; Jeff Murphy is not the cheapest but few in the UK have either his stock or experience. Barnaby Wilde is also worth a try;they're in Honiton, Devon, 01404 44714. Finally, and probably your best chance; THS, Castleford. Heidi has been in the H-D spares business for longer than most of us have been riding them, call her on 01977 518886/517566. Just remembered, I do have a seat post kicking around my garage somewhere; PM me if you're interested.

| Re: parts sources Jzk, All parts you mentioned are available from the JP cycle vintage & restoration catalogue. http://wwwjpcycles.com They ship to the UK, they aren't the cheapest, but when I lived in the UK I found them reliable to deal with. BR, S ![]()

| Re: parts sources Jzk. A good source for NOS is Jan Willem Boon in Holland. Email at jw@jwboon.com also put the name into the search and you will find his site. He had parts on the shelf that 'H-D' any where in the world did not have, I know I looked. Very very helpful and you can do a part number search on the site. Also if you have the OEM part numbers email them to Rick or Roger at Guernsey H-D at www.guernseyharleydavidson.com and they will tell if they are avalible from H-D still and how much. If you buy the parts from them, they are VAT free and postage free. The only condition is you must have the OEM numbers because their parts books do not go back far enough. I have used them several times and you can not beat them for OEM parts. Last edited by Noddy; 29-03-2006 at 04:55 PM. |
