Re: My 1954 finished at last...

Hi Kickstart.

Can be checked with an electrician multimeter:

Set in Ohms: Check primary circuit, low voltage, between end of the red wire which connects at the points and earth: should be about .5 ohms when the points are open.

Check secondary circuit, high voltage, between the 2 springs that go to the spark plugs. Should be between 9 Kohms and 13 Kohms ( 9000 ohms to 13 000 ohms). If more than that, HT is probably on its way out... Check also between any spring and earth: should be infinity. If not, change coil. Some all the time on ebay or here:

http://www.magnetoparts.com/fmc.htm

Also check the less obvious, like is your kill switch permanently "on", which would kill the sparks, or is the mag wet???...

No amount of clutch repairs will alter the timing!!!!

Hope this helps, Patrick

Thanks, Baza...

Came home allright, lost Barry somewhere in Bristol, came up the A49, the North West lads were supposed to have a camping weekend at the Engine and Tender in Brome nr Craven Arms (vintage/sporty rally site), but nobody was around??? Still, the locals liked the bike!!! Also plenty of thumbs up on the way for the 4 wheel users, they must have like the drone!!!
