Thumbs up 1975 Iron Head Sporty

I have just joined the vintage world by buying a 1975 Iron Head Sporty project. She is a bit rough around the edges and is not standard (Plunger Frame?) I'm looking forward to stripping her down over the winter and see what I can come up with. A friend of mine and me self were playing round with her at the weekend and got her started on the kicker but the found the electric starter was knackered (the cog on the armature has no teeth anymore). I have put an add on the club site to try and locate one but does anybody know of good suppliers for the old ironheads as I'm sure this isn't the only part I'm going to need.

Cheers

Hammy

DEFINITELY not standard! Got a piccy?

For parts, much stuff is available aftermarket; if it's not in the Zodiac catalogue etc, Jeff Murphy at Riverside is a good source, you could also do worse than try Jan Willem Boon in Holland.

Let me know what you actually need (apart from a new frame ;) ) and I'll try to help you.

Don't be put off by the horror stories; most Ironheads run fine if they're well looked after, biggest problem is that they're never with one owner long enough to get real TLC.

Ironheads are fine! Plenty of people can get you parts. Try Roger at Full Bore in Watford, he will post stuff if you want. Where are you from?
By the way, best thing for ease of use is fit a CV carb. Cheap and makes it start first time and eliminates carb farts. Most satisfying!
And buy a HD manual, if you want a parts list let me know, I have one on cd. Join the yahoo ironhead sportster garage. great bunch of guys with over one million years of experience playing with ironheads!
You will have fun.

Hey Andrew, long time no see! You up for the 50th Anniversary bash next year? Planned for 3rd weekend in July, venue Market Harborough. Be good to see you there.
