clutch

had the clutch down for a good look.put the pressure plate in the lathe and got a 25 thou run out.put that right.then checked the bonded plates for flat this is quite intresting to do as if the darn things that go to make up the clutch are not true it will never opperate as it should and can never be adjusted right..this is simple to do you do not have to have a lathe just thought I would say this as clutches can be a problem....

Re: clutch

Zipps

I strongly doubt that any pre EVO clutch has ever seen a lathe even when it was being made, more likely beaten out of a solid lump of steel by some big redneck in the factory.

That said, with a bit a patince and some other bits and pieces that can be obtained for not too much outlay (eg tamer and long roller bearings etc) you can make a shovel clutch cooperate to some degree.;)

R,

Simon.

Re: clutch

O yes .what you say is true.but a little bit of fettering never hurts.I have been arround bikes for a long time .what can happen as I expect you know is that after a time streses in the metal can do all sorts of things.so it is worth a check.and can save you money ..and its all good fun aint it...
