SPORTSTER 50th ANNIVERSARY EVENT - JULY 2007: And Flyer.

Many of you will be aware that we have planned a special event to mark the historic Golden Jubilee of Sportster production. This will take place at Kibworth Rugby Club, Market Harborough (the AGM venue) on the weekend of 20th - 22nd July 2007.

As a key part of the celebrations, there will be a parade/display of Sportsters including a representative model from (hopefully) EVERY year of production. Given that some of the earlier ones are very rare indeed, I'd be most grateful if you guys could network this event as much as possible, in order to get maximum coverage. ALL Harleys will of course be welcome, but the weekend'll be tailored specifically to Sportsters, Buells, K's etc.

This has every chance of being the biggest gathering of Sporties ever witnessed in this country. As well as being a weekend to remember, it should also give the Club some welcome publicity in the motor-cycle press. As far as I understand, the MoCo are not doing anything specific to celebrate the anniversary, at least not in the UK, so it's up to us to make our mark.

The bikes don't have to be immaculate, or even original. I don't care if they're chopped, bobbed or they're rat-bikes. I don't really give a monkeys if some of 'em come on trailers; I just want them to be there! So please don't think, "my bike's not good enough", or, "there's bound to be another one there from that year", it really does not matter. It's not a concours contest,it's intended to be a gathering of like-minded genuine enthusiasts in the best traditions of this Club.

There will be a band on Saturday night , raffle, trophies for various categories, traders and all the usual stuff you'd associate with one of our rallies. Since it's a one-off (can't see me being at the centenary! ) I'll try to keep the entrance fee as low as possible. BTW, due to the nature of this event, non-members, providing they're on eligible bikes, will be charged the same price.

Patrick and I have started compiling a list of those people who are interested in attending, basically so that we can foresee any potential gaps in model years which we need to target. The only info we need is your name, bike model and year, and a contact phone number. This info is kept strictly between me and Patrick, and will not be released to any third party. If any of you wish your names to be added (and our thanks go to all who already have) then please PM, e-mail or phone Patrick or myself.

Re: SPORTSTER 50th ANNIVERSARY EVENT - JULY 2007: And Flyer.

Gday Kev,
I am going to be back in Blighty in time to make the 50th.
But unfortunatly my bike will still be in transit.
I would still love to come to the rally, are you aloud to come in the 4 wheeled type of transport?
It will obviously be the perfect time to rejoin as a club member.

Tibbs
