Hi Johnny

Welcome to the forum; or more precisely, the bit of the forum where we talk about REAL Harleys!

If you're serious about restoring/riding the XR, I'd highly recommend getting in touch with our Vintage Secretary, Patrick Delli (A.K.A. The French Owl on this forum) who, apart from being able to do the necessary for you with DVLA, has all the contacts you'll need to help you do the project.

I'll also refer you to the "sticky" topic at the head of this page, regarding the 50th Anniversary Sportster Weekend. Running or not, I'd love to see it there, so if you fancy bunging it in a van, and camping out in Leicestershire for the weekend with a like-minded bunch of nutters then please do come along.

You'll almost certainly meet fellow owners, and definitely people who have experience of working on the beasts.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Advice Needed: What can I do with an XR750?

Blimey, I only came on her for a quick bit of advice and don't mind admitting that I've got a bit overwhelmed, got slightly excited, and achieved semi tumescence and a fair amount of moistness around the gills (apologies to anyone reading this whilst eating).

I was beginning to despair about this project, but am ready to tackle it again with renewed vim and vigour (As long as someone else builds the bike for me, obviously).

Thanks once again, all of you. I appreciate it.

Now, what is the chance of posting some pictures. That would be a very sought after bike in my part of the world.

Western Classic MCC run a flat track class at their "days of glory" grasstrack meeting every year .
You could actually ride the XR for the purpose it was designed for !
Now that, I would love to see . (and hear !!)
Good luck with whatever you decide to do with her.

Re: Advice Needed: What can I do with an XR750?

Hopefully, by the ethereal wonders of modern science, a picture may appear (if it doesn't, it's because I'm about as good with the worldwide webernet as I am with a spanner).

I know I've gassed on about this, but I really am blown away by your answers and help. Even KiwiDave who started out tetchy ;)

I was beginning to really lose faith with this project, but unfailingly, everyone I've spoken to within the HD community has been positive, upbeat and really encouraging. Just thanks, really.
