Clutch

Pan is running like a dream... so far.

One gripe, the hand clutch is very very heavy, me poor fingers are getting a right old workout. (insert, joke here) So my learned friends, any suggestions om making it lighter? Also the clutch is a bit draggy. Owning a shovel as well, i know the trail and error adjustment needed, but the Pan seems a little more of a problem. I already have the Aluminium clutch pressure plate... Any ideas, or has anybody used the 'ram jett clutch retainer? (got to be an american product with a name like that) Thank you.

Re: Clutch

a mousetrap is the answer for the clutch lever weight?......to help with the dragging a ramjet retainer is part of the fix. It will only fit the 3 adjuster stud hubs though. This is why I have a brand new one if you'd like to make me an offer.
pm sent.

Re: Clutch

yes the retainer has a fantastic rep but it is not a lever-aid.

If you have to shell out for a mousetrap (OEM replicas widely available)...think about a foot clutch.

It is far easier than it looks to master...and a snip to bolt up to your bike.

I dont think any of the modern EZ Clutch, Liteboy style aids work on vintage bikes, but I would love to be wrong.

Aw dave, why did you write that? you've now planted a very expensive seed, and that seed may well grow. dam, i thought the expense was just about over.

Re: Clutch

1. suicide clutch with a ratchet shift......cool, dangerous...or just cheap n cheerful ?
2. rocker clutch with handshift tanks, levers and handshift gearbox lid....much more expensive, but massively safer.
3. mousetrap, probably the cheapest and easiest option.
4. fit a hydraulic clutch actuation.

Re: Clutch

1. cool and safe. Trust me. Use a rocker clutch. Go to eBay. Do it all for £100 if sharp.

2. yes, not the most cost-effective

3. yeah, try that first....look on eBay or here: http://www.network54.com/Forum/47852/

4. even better than No 3, but do they fit Pans?
