| Hi all, I am new to this forum. I have built an 81 Ironhead, my first Harley. I have had the engine running but after a short period oil started pouring out of the crankcase breather. I drained the sump and almost 2 quarts of oil came out. I have had the flywheel rebuilt, new con rods, rebore, new pistons/rings and all the bearings have been replaced. Oil is returning to the tank but it is more of a squirt than a gush. I have been told that Harleys donot scavenge very well and will have a certain quantity of oil in the crank? This bike has been a right F***ing pain to get to this stage. I am expecting lots more problems once it is on the road. I have a Triumph 3ta lowrider I bulit myself. It took me quite some years to felt that bugger but now it is so sweet, oil and petrol. Do any of you have any answers. Thanks in advance. PS. can you send any replies to this e-mail address please Andrew.Mesie@west-yorkshire.probation.gsi.gov.uk Many thanks, Iron Andy I am without a computer at the moment and am using the public library. |

| Re: Wet Sumping Hi Andy, If you let them sit too long without running they will sump. The more you ride it the sumping will go away. Tibbs |
