HELP! Panhead part needed! Have any of you good people got an electric -start Pan or generator Shovel? I need a starter jackshaft for a 65-69 model so that I can get my bike back together for the Shrewsbury Toy Run next weekend. New or secondhand would be fine, it's the final piece of this massive jigsaw that I've been putting together for six months now! Cheers, Pete.

Re: HELP! Panhead part needed! I dont honestly think it is the kind of part you will find in a rush in the UK. I would also try Heidi at THS in Castleford. Older stuff an absolute speciality. Quin advertiser. Also Jeff Murphy at Riverside Harley Parts in Putney, London. He has a great stock stash. or. Jan Willem Boon - Obsolete New Old Stock parts for your Harley-Davidson motorcycle and American made replacement parts in the Netherlands. Search their site with the part number. Spendy, mind.... otherwise you are looking Stateside. I can give you a few tips if the immediate search fails. Good luck.

Re: HELP! Panhead part needed! Thanks for the pointers chaps; I'll try them out ASAP. BTW, I now know more than I ever wanted to about converting a pre-65 Pan to electric start using factory parts and I have a hugely important and priceless technical tip for anyone contemplating such a thing; don't. Just don't. Thanks again; Pete.

Re: HELP! Panhead part needed! you may be right. The widely acclaimed simplest solution seems to be: Panhead Electric Start Kit http://www.techcycle.com/pdfs/il_aim_install.pdf

Re: HELP! Panhead part needed! Yes, that was the first one I looked at; it would have been easier, cheaper and much quicker as it turned out. Oh well. My only reservation was that the ring gear and Bendix are left completely exposed to the elements and with the way I use (abuse?) my bike it just seemed that they would suffer; others probably know better, I just thought I did......Pete.

Re: HELP! Panhead part needed! Well, thanks for the the part number and for the the contacts: I got the part I needed. Guess what; it wasn't the only part I needed. So I'm going to have to do the Toy Run on the old Black Bomber but at least now I know I can finish the Harley sooner or later...Merry Xmas all, Pete.
