Re: Volunteer Required! VMCC's Festival of 1,000 Bikes at Mallory Park

whereabouts are you? VMCC grasstrack season starts in April. If you haven't ridden for a while, come to the grass hillclimb at Chalfont St Giles first. It's a very relaxed day of individual timed runs that are as serious as you want to be, people use it for trying bikes, having a go, riding things that have no other place... you can get day membership and a day licence if you need them, plus it's a 'restricted' ACU permit so anyone can enter

the grasstrack used to be right in the centre, back in the days when we had a single rope and rode over people's feet, but the insurance is the problem nowadays, no surprises there then.

but it's very popular with the section members, and after all 1000 Bikes is a members' day first and foremost

Cool, I'm near oxford so chalfonts not far. Was just about to renew my ACU trials permit for this year, maybe I'll do the full comp licence thing as an incentive to get back into it.
Where can I get regs for VMCC grasstrack events?? Just want something low key to get back into it.
Just need some dope to fire the old girl up......can smell the sweet smell of R already

Re: Volunteer Required! VMCC's Festival of 1,000 Bikes at Mallory Park

VMCC Grasstrack Section is a non-territorial section, and the local Sections don't have regs, with the sole exception of Oxford which is run by the Oxford section, and always has been. The Grasstrack section was formed about 1980 because the local sections who had traditionally run these events, were no longer willing to do so because of the ACU paperwork

Same applies to the 1000 Bikes, entries for the grasstrack are dealt with by the Section. 1000 Bikes is run from National Head Office

go to vmcc.net and look under 'events' and it is 27th April, contact number is there. Chalfont was originally run by the Chiltern Section but it passed to the Grastrack Section in about 1982. Last year the event moved to a new field; the original landowner had sold up but the next farmer along offered a field, so the event had its 'Grand Last Ever' and then sent out next years' Regs a few weeks later! Grasstrack can be a bit like that at times....

you will need; helmet with current ACU stamp; back protector ( not the motocross 'birdcage' chest protector, these aren't legal and are plain dangerous if you slide off ); leathers or kevlars ( there is no special stamp for leathers. Quite a few people wear 2-piece ones. Some people wear motocross suits with armour underneath although these are discouraged ); gloves; eye protection; boots ( motocross ones are popular, although most regular riders wear speedway type or for the real traditionalists, Lewis Leathers road racing boots, with a steel shoe )

Re: Volunteer Required! VMCC's Festival of 1,000 Bikes at Mallory Park

Update,,

We have the stand booked and a Marquee so we wont have to mess around putting that up it will be done for us and taken down.

So far Ive eight volenteers to help over the weekend, but am still short of earlier bikes.

If any one is interested in the club ride round well need 40 bikes for it, these sessions sell out quickly so we must be quick, any one wanting tp participate in this please let me know even if their not going to be on the stand. Ive tried the Indian riders club to see if they would maybe go halfs with us but they dont expect more than about 4 people to take part.

Were going to have some tables in the Marquee, has anyone any engines that could be displayed ? on stands or in bits, its all interesting. Or any other suggestions ?

Any ideas please get intouch.

Dave

As yet I've had no response about people putting their bikes on the track,,,, we or you will run out of time if this doesnt get done quickly. Most spaces will have soon gone.

Re: Volunteer Required! VMCC's Festival of 1,000 Bikes at Mallory Park

track slots were sold out long ago, according to the VMCC Journal. Don't foeget that this is a members' club promoting the event, and VMCC have nearly 15,000 members
