Re: Volunteer Required! VMCC's Festival of 1,000 Bikes at Mallory Park

Dave - You're doing a sterling job organising this.

Unfortunately I don't have an old bike to show or race and it's not interesting except to me.

I can't be there for the whole weekend but I will be there for the day on Sunday and will help out where I can.

Keep up the good work...........

Don't just sit there - get involved..... (Who said that? )

Kev

Re: Volunteer Required! VMCC's Festival of 1,000 Bikes at Mallory Park

I see there is a reference to 'club slots' earlier in this thread. The VMCC Journal would presumably be referring to individual slots booked through the club. If there are blocks of track space given to clubs that probably wouldn't be in the Journal

the VMCC tends to believe that the less people know about the details of what it does, the happier everyone will be.. this is not as true as it used to be but it's still quite common, and it works for them. There is for example, no forum on the webpage, and this is deliberate.

The Club went through a major upheaval a few years ago, in the course of which a number of old faces who had been in place too long, and in some cases failed to move with the times, were replaced; and it was all done through the committee and AGM / EGM route. Frankly, I think this was for the best. There was quite enough hoo-hah as it was, much of it to little or no useful end. Having every minority and faction stirring the mess through a webpage would only have made things worse.

it's quite entertaining to log onto a page like this, especially when you are fed up and far from home on a barge somewhere, but I'm not particularly convinced that it contributes over-much to the running of a club.

Re: Volunteer Required! VMCC's Festival of 1,000 Bikes at Mallory Park

I reckon Dave is on about Club track time brit45 ie- All Clubs will be allowed to run their bikes on block at specific times,up to 40 bikes per Club i think.
Can't find any ref to the track time for individuals being sold out yet,i've not long had my entry form from them and they are still advertising in the VMCC Journal ?

Go here for more info folks vmcc.net

Re: Volunteer Required! VMCC's Festival of 1,000 Bikes at Mallory Park

just looked at the Jan Journal AND SO THEY ARE, ok fair enough. Wouldn't be the first time I've picked up junk from the grapevine... hadn't paid much attention to the 'visiting club' details either, remiss of me but there it is.

to tell the truth I was much upset by the upheavals a few years ago, a lot of older members were, had a dose of ACU politics around that time also, it blunted my enthusiasm for clubs in general and I don't pay the attention to it that I used to. Let my Clerk of the Course and SCB Machine Examiner tickets lapse for the same reason

to tell the truth I would quite like to ride my 45 project on the track. I have problems with work dates so I'm reluctant to make definite arrangements but I think it's near enough bike-wise.

Re: Volunteer Required! VMCC's Festival of 1,000 Bikes at Mallory Park

Progress so far,,,,

Stand and Marquee all booked, we will also have a generator onsite to run a PC, which in turn means well be able to have some footage of previous club events running. If any one has any footage of rallys etc could we please have copies ?

Camping will have to be paid for by all exihitors parking is free.

I need the following information from ALL people bringing bikes to the show;

1 Model
2 Year
3 Is the bike original what changes have been made to it if any
4 Any interesting history
5 Photos of any rebuilds, if possible
6 A good quality digital shot of the bike

This will enable us to make some sort of presentation for each bike.

Could all this information please go to me at dave@daveking-acoustics.com

If you dont get a confirmation email please call me on 01189262446 my junk mail filter sometimes has fits....

Thanks, Dave King

Re: Volunteer Required! VMCC's Festival of 1,000 Bikes at Mallory Park

I only have the above information from four of the people bringing their bikes so far, Could the rest of you please get it to me. It will save you answering the same questions over and over again.

WE ALSO NEED ,,,, video footage from past club events Rallys rideouts etc. Were going to have a screen and projector in the Marquee playing these. So if any one can help please get in touch.

Thanks, Dave
