Electric issues Fixed

When I first bought the Wide Glide with a current MOT!!!! I had a series of issues with the electrics, the headlight would only go on main beam, no dipped, the horn did not work and the battery discharged really quick.

I noticed that the after market switch housings were cracked

It had a set of buck horn bars and they obviously had to go. I bought a new set of switch housings (chrome after market jobs as I could not find any standard ones), new cables and a set of 15” Apes

Well spent hours fitting and running internal wires, all correctly soldered up.

Loads of problems,
1) bike would not start, just made a clicking noise when starter pressed.
2) Headlight still faulty, but sparked and switch burnt out second time of trying
3) No horn still
4) Again battery discharged really quick

After a long time of scratching head took switch housings off bar and tried starting it. Started first time.

Realised that the design of the after market housings was shite and all the buttons were shorting on the bars, why do they sell things like this

De soldered all wires from the buttons and installed plastic bushings over connections with buttons and also shrink wrapped all showing cable.

Am bloody happy to say that now everything works fantastically, but took hours,

Just thought I would share my trials and tribulations, might save others a bit of time

Nice one Andy, I bet your well chuffed.
Now you can ride to the vintage Rally with me so I don't get lost, plus I'll need a hand to push when I run out of petrol.
Look forward to seeing your bike mate.

Tibbs
