| Dash Trim Rubbers Well finally managed to get the electrics all sorted on the FXWG, was travelling at what seemed like a reasonable speed, no apparent rattles when all of a sudden the dash started to vibrate lose. several cars behind me so not safe to stop. Next thing i know the dash has come completely lose and is now lyiing in my lap ![]() Then the wind catches the trim rubbers and they both vanish over my right thigh. i grab hold of the dash and wedge it between my thighs and drive the next mile home with a naked dash, ![]() no real problems however where do i now get some new rubbers. does appear in the CC catalogue but seemingly is discontinued and am loath to buy genuine HD. any one any ideas or better substitutes, the dash will be loctited on for sure once in possession of rubbers many thanks Andy

| Re: Dash Trim Rubbers Let me know the part number if urgent - I can get a price for you at the Super Shovel Supermarket right near my work here in Melbourne and bring it back to the UK in 3 weeks.......I am back for a fortnight.....I have also put out an appeal on a US shovel swap meet site for you...you might get lucky and get it for next to nothing. I take it this would be the original 5gallon tanks dash in mottled black and it's a one-piece line of black trim? Last edited by kiwidave; 15-07-2008 at 07:45 AM. |

| Re: Dash Trim Rubbers Thank you gents not sure Dave, at some time it looks like the owner has reverted back to the 3 gallon tank. the trim rubber is (or rather was) a two piece set, however i can see no real reason why it cannot be a one piece all the way round. will look at the USA Twins site Kiwi Thanks again Kiwi Dave for the offer but I really must get this bike on the road asap, spent too long in the garage this summer ![]()

| Re: Dash Trim Rubbers I will update you if anyone responds on the swap board I frequent, but if you have no luck elsewhere, tell me quick cos the shop here will def have that part and I can bring it back on the plane and it could be in your hand on August 3/4. **UPDATE EDIT:** Here's a great tip from a shovel rider on The Horse swap board here's what i have done. get yourself some windshield washer hose or similar, smallest diameter, from the auto parts store and cut it lengthwise with a razor. fits perfect. Job done! Last edited by kiwidave; 16-07-2008 at 10:50 AM. |

| Re: Dash Trim Rubbers any decent sized autojumble will have stalls selling various rubber trims that you can buy by the meter a lot cheaper than any hd part |
