| sportster regulator I am replacing the black box regulator on my sporty with the earlier style mechanical regulator What is the 61 terminal on the regulator for? It doesn't appear in any wiring diagrams but it must have some function |

| Re: sportster regulator Hi Graeme, T'was used on batteryless pre 69 CH to fit a capacitor to help the dynamo kick in at low revs... Not used after 70. Patrick |

| Re: sportster regulator 61 goes to a capacitor #32727-63 ,and the clamp round the capacitor to terminal D- and earth 12 volt Bosch regulator #74511-65 if magneto but no battery is used. 61 not used if battery in system, D- to earth. 2 brush generators, Sportster or 74. C/o Easyriders Tech Tips Vol.1 pages 68 & 69.

| Re: sportster regulator thanks for the info have checked out tips and tricks and also the factory manual 71 -78 neither mentioned the 61 tab interestingly the XLH & XLCH got the old style regulator for 77/78 the XLCR got the new style throw away (often) black box |
