| Re: having trubble with wiring from spark coil to electronic module
Solenoid wires are one to battery (at the large-diameter long stud), one to starter motor (large diameter, short stud) and one to starter relay (the small post). There shouldn't be another one there...maybe it is an extra earth from the small post. I say that because although I've never thought about the solenoid's ground....careful looking just now at a few Shovel era factory manual diagrams indicates that it is grounded by some apparently internal connection between the small (starter relay) terminal and the casing. So... self-grounding if bolted up correctly. Like a regulator. Apparently. |

| Re: having trubble with wiring from spark coil to electronic module I've seen them with two wires from the centre connection before, some after-market wiring kits use them. They both go to the live output of the starter relay, guess to improve the current handling capacity of the wire.

Hit me if you have them, but just in case.....you **REALLY** need to get the Harley-Davidson official factory service manual and the Harley-Davidson official parts book for your model. It makes life so much easier, no matter which Harley you have. They cost more, but they are *WAY* better than Clymer or Haynes manuals. And they show you where every bloody bolt and washer fits, and have wiring diagrams and oil routing maps and everything. |
