Oh Poo!!!

Why oh why oh why did i do it?

i went out to the garage to just wire in the banjo brake switch and thats when it started ,
i now need a new horn (dont ask )
but on the bright side i found i had replaced the manifold upside down when i played with the carbs last, so thats now the right way up.

but at the end of play the bike is now sitting in the garage with the front end wiring out and tanks and seat off,
anybody got any ideas on how to get a horn working again? (i think it might have something to do with that little screw on the back

Re: Oh Poo!!!

I take it you moved the screw settings.
Start with a couple of wires to the horn, check what resistance the horn is reading. Connect the wires to a 12 volt supply.
If it starts to bleat, it works. If it's dead, tweak the screw in and out till it starts squawking.

Glad you spotted the manifold thing....

I normally only use the horn on mine for the MOT and have been caught out once before, not having checked it before i took it along for the test.

Did you get the banjo wired in then?

Re: Oh Poo!!!

Horn typically has one short wire to ground (often the bolt on the bracket)...the other wire goes to the handlebar switch.

Check the ground wire is attached...and that maybe when mucking with the handlebar switch that the wire did not come adrift there (it is soldered to switch).

Re: Oh Poo!!!

If you've got the patience and the tweeking the little screw on the back doesn't work, then you can drill out the rivets, clean up the contact breaker inside and replace the rivets with BA something or other nuts and bolts. Totally duff horn comes back to life. Worked for me.

Re: Oh Poo!!!

Thanks guys
wired the horn up to a battery and turned the screw until a desired toot was acheived,
the banjo is wired in and so is my anti theft device,
so all in all a productive non poo like day
