| Sorted the Ig. timing
Hi all, yes, at last I have the ignition timing set. A friend helped me with it and we had it done in less than five minutes. Months and months of trying and then done in a few minuets. Ain't it always the way? When I took the bike out for a test ride, after a couple of miles, when I was stood at traffic lights the bike started to creep forward with the clutch disengaged. I am going to adjust the clutch to see if I can solve this problem. Once this is sorted, MOT time. Thanks to everyone who has helped me get my my bike sorted. This is a great forum and a great bunch of bikers. Iron Andy. |

Well done. Shit happens in frustration but the feeling of accomplishment soon makes all the grief evaporate. Enloy the summer on that bike.

Regarding the clutch adjustment; in my experience it's a bit of a "black art" on Ironheads, and even when set up to OEM spec with new parts, requires a bit of tweaking to get it dead right. Try adjusting the free play on the cable, a bit at a time, with the engine and tranny hot. There's a very fine line on these 'twixt slip and drag. Glad to hear you're nearly sorted.
