Do you have the primary locking tool? With that, some heat and a long breaker bar (I've even used an old FLH fork stanchion and a scaffold tube) you should be able to remove it. If that doesn't work you could try an air wrench but if you do make sure that you check the alternator rotor for loose magnets afterwards.

I asume you had it in gear with someone holding the brakes on while you used the power bar? Put a car ramp reversed against a kerb or two inline against a wall to give working room. With the ramp reversed the wheel can't climb over the top. Have someone sat on and holding brakes while in gear and put a fork tube over the power bar. I use a Britool 12" bar with a BMW fork tube on diesel cylinder head bolts, not been defeated yet. You haven't had a brain fart and tried to tighten it have you? Last edited by Limey_Dave; 19-07-2009 at 03:49 PM. |

I use a locking bar between the sprokets then a socket on the nut with an old fork tube over it for leverage,i did donate a jamming bar to our last tool rep but it seems to have disapeared Andy Brown knew nothing about it

The club tool loan has one, why don't you call Andy and get it delivered?

Graeme, I tried an air-powered rattle gun on mine and got nowhere. Attempted all other options including four fat blokes , an inch-drive power bar and a scaffolding pole; bent the pole. ![]() Next door neighbour's son, who owns a garage, lent me a Snap-On battery-powered rattle gun; twenty seconds, job done. Apparently these things will shift anything; must admit I was sceptical at first but he tells me they're the absolute mutt's nuts for this kind of job. Bloody expensive though so I'd try borrowing one!
