Rightyo i have the caliper back and now the rear cylinder isnt firing (the cylinder and exhaust stay cold, but there is a spark there so what could suddenly happen to stop it firing?

First thing I'd do is swap the plugs over and see if the front cylinder refuses to fire. Try that and let us know what happens.

if both plugs are firing the next thing to check is compression.

They may be firing in the light of day but failing under compression.

that is very true, but as was said by Kev after swapping plugs first the next thing would be compression.

Re: shovel trouble

If you have a spare plug lead for rear cylinder try swapping over as it may be your plug lead is breaking down. Check connections on your coil, again if you have spare coil try swapping over. Check wires to coil. Age old problem - renew condensor and check points gap has not closed up. Lastly check timing.

cheers

Re: shovel trouble

All good advice, but remember to do one thing at a time. It's often a process of elimination.
