1980 FLH Handlebars

Hi all,

Has anyone got the part number for a 1980 FLH Handlebar. I've got a later type with dimples fitted at the moment, but would like to have the correct one for the switchgear fitted.

I know that aftermarket are available, but the origionals are stainless steel (much better in this country), rather than chromed.

Re: 1980 FLH Handlebars

this parts book right here says...

55919-79 handlebar only 80 & 81 FL, FLH, FLH-80, Classic

for 82-84 FLHs the number changed to 55919-82...but it appears to be exactly the same handlebar.

Pre-1980 they were two-piece.

I would try Jeff at Riverside Cycles in Putney, London ......and also N0S PARTS - Obsolete NOS parts for your Harley-Davidson motorcycle and American made replacement parts .....both specialise in old parts....unless I am unfairly maligning active club-supporting shops who may have one. Strikes me as a search item, though, if you insist on original.

OR Old Dude Vintage Parts & Service in the USA.

Don't forget also that USA dealer parts counters will, if you ask nicely, conduct a nationwide search through the one computer to see if *ANY* dealer in the whole USA has the old bit you want. Surprising results with that one, apparently. Not forgetting, either, the good guys at THE HORSE BC Swap Meet

Thanks for that Dave,

Yes I know the pre 1980 are two piece, hence the request for 1980 numbers.

I have used Nos before, but will give Jeff a go first.

Only after origional because they are stainless steel and not chromed steel.

Re: 1980 FLH Handlebars

41 to 84 parts book says (for split bars) 56044-75 for right side, 56056-75 for left side - "used on 75 to 79 FL, FLH, FLH-80 & Classic". As Kiwi said the book gives single piece bar for 1980 onwards.

Re: 1980 FLH Handlebars

Thanks again Dave and Paul for the help. I found the 55919-79 on Jan Willem Boons site.

HANDLEBAR

About £30 cheaper than Boons if they're still stainless and they've got them.
