Insurance Valuation help

Purely for insurance purposes, I have no intention of selling it, please would those in the know offer their opinions of value of my WLA. Photos in my other thread, or my album here.
Please feel free to Pm if you prefer.

I have had a look at the few currently for sale, but they are mostly fully restored, which mine obviously isn't.

At the moment I want to insure agreed value for storage only. Please also feel free to suggest companies, I know the obvious ones are Footman James and Carole Nash, but if anyone knows of any others.

Thanks all

Re: Insurance Valuation help

if it is ''wartime original'' and covered in that mucky patina stuff, doesn't that make it more valuable as a time machine?

If it's a good runner, if it was mine, I would insure for 8,000 and even if that is a grand or two too high, that is only the cost of a very few hard-to-find parts from jw boon or somewhere, isn't it? How can you go wrong slightly over-estimating?

Insurers ALWAYS want to pay less. You know that

Mine's insured for £7500 and whilst it's a good 'un it's nowhere near as nice as yours Steve. Military bikes with provenance always fetch more; I'd say Kiwi Dave's estimate is if anything a shade conservative.

What you have to bear in mind is how much would you have to pay out to replace it?

Re: Insurance Valuation help

Thank you both. I am finding this very difficult as I have nothing to compare it with factually, the personal tie also clouds the judgement a bit if I'm honest.
KiwiDave's comment about parts prices is certainly true - I have sold a good trailer and put in a load of extra hours over the past couple of months. There's still a bit more to find yet.

I suppose in reality, if I go for 'agreed value' the insurers will soon shout if I over inflate my estimate. I'd rather err on the safe side (safe for me) so I'll probably see if they cough at 9 or 10.

Thanks again.
