| Outfit racing
Hello everyone, you may remember I posted some time ago telling you of my intention to build and race an ironhead Sportster sidecar outfit. Well I've bought an engine and am now on the lookout for cycle parts, I need an early frame and swinging arm with rear wheel and a pre 64 front end. The frame does not need a V5/logbook. I am racing my Thunderbird outfit at Cadwell on the 26/27th of this month so if you're there come and say hello in the paddock (outfit 87) I can be contacted through this forum or e mail davidsykes650@hotmail.com or 07791906123 Cheers, David Last edited by davidsykes650; 16-09-2009 at 05:56 PM. I missed the original post - tell me more?.. ok, got it.... sounds interesting. I would have thought that the tall Sportster engine was the wrong 'shape' for an outfit, but I'm open to be proved wrong on this.

Well, if anyone made the trip to Cadwell they may have seen me bin it at Hall bends but despite a fractured shoulder blade and more bruises than you can shake a stick at I am even more determined to put an Ironhead on the grid next season. Come on folks sell me an early frame ! Cheers, David

| Re: Outfit racing Hard luck David hope you're mended soon. If you want me to be honest, I think you'll be very lucky indeed to find a genuine early Sporty frame in this country; I see you mention pre-64 front end, is that cos of the building regs or just personal preference? You do know that the early tele-fork legs are pretty feeble?

For pistons, try Heide at THS, Castleford. Speaks fluent Ironhead. 01977 518886 Or try Matt's Machine Shop, Abercynon. 01443 742791. If you ring Matt, do leave a message if it goes to answerphone as he's often busy in the workshop.
