HARLEY brand

Hi all,

I am looking at a Harley CV carb on ebay off an 89 Sportster. Are these Harley made carbs good. Running a bendix at the mo. I understand lots off owners change over to CV for better starting, performance.

Thanking you all in advance,

Andy.

Re: HARLEY brand

I have had a few ironheads and used a cv carb off an 89 on one with great results, no jet changes and strait thro drags, fast as you like ! , used it like that for 6 years and didnt touch it after fitting, another one had a 40mm dell orto on and that was just as good,

A good reliable Carb. Simple & easy to set up.

Fit it & forget it.

Some old grey beards are just tougher than the younger Ironhead generation.

Re: HARLEY brand

Not sure if it counts for Iron Heads but would imagine it does. A lot of people fitting CV's to Shovels. the carb must be the basic item not dyno jetted, thunderslide etc am guessing the old bits can be retrofitted but why go to the added expense. people seem happy with the economy and power

Re: HARLEY brand

Hello Andy, I will be replacing the carb from my 85 engine and replacing it with an Amal GP running on methanol when the outfit is built. I'm happy to take the carb off and rather than it sitting in a corner of the workshop you are welcome to it - no charge.

Cheers, David
