Re: Cafe Racer Sportster

Except it ain't an Ironhead!

Check out the crankcases; that's definitely a 45 bottom end, probably (Limey Dave will correct me if wrong) a Triumph box, and they are certainly NOT Sporty heads.

Methinks this may be the "Matchless Magnum" discussed in an earlier thread.

Edit: I was right, it is. See here for this and other interesting "bitzas".......

Thanks Dave, I'll bow to your expertise; my knowledge of larger Brit bikes is a bit limited!

I was convinced the plaque on the fender mentioned Sportster. I took the photo at a local Kent vintage bike do near Faversham earlier this year.

Never mind it still looks cool whatever it is... some patina lol

Re: Cafe Racer Sportster

Not a great pic but looks like the return of the Magnum.
Norton frame,45 bottom end,AMC top end,and Norton/AMC box.
Note the covers on the rocker box.

Re: Cafe Racer Sportster

I'll go with that LD

Theres a bloke in Romney Marsh Kent called John Newson ,he runs Oxney Motorcycles and used to run a Club for Norton Featherbed framed Specials,i'm pretty sure he has a bike like this with a Harley bottom end,Matchless/AJS top end ,with an AMC/Norton type G/Box,certainly not a pampered conkers condition bike, but looks very usable.
