| CV 89 diagram
Hi all, I bought a Harley carb, guy said he took it off his 89 FXR. I have an 81 Ironhead. I have read the past threads on here about re-jetting, also looked at the Sportster Home Page. I had a look at the jets, is the main jet the one that screws into the tube the needle slides into and where is the slow jet? The jet (main jet?) that sits between the float has 175 stamped on it. My manules only go upto 85, does anyone have a pic of a CV carb for an 89 Harley. Thanking you all in advance. Andy. |

Hi Andy, the low speed jet is up a tube almost next to the main jet, that 175 will be the main, I run a 185 in my Shovel. I have run a 48 low speed jet in Shovels, Pans and Sportsters, should be close to what you need, also unplug the low speed adjuster, it's under a blanking plug at the back of the carb, you'll probably want about 2.5 turns out from closed. Hope this is some help. J. |
