Angry Bennets Insurance

Just rang Bennetts as my policy is with them to change my address. Now bear in mind I lived in Co. Durham last year and had a fully comp policy at £132 p/y. Previous year it was £138 with Bennetts. I moved up to Aberdeen and changed address and the policy stayed roughly the same. Due to the wife not settling here in Aberdeen we moved back to Co. Durham last week about 100 yds from where we used to live. Almost identical postcode but now my policy will be £206p/y.

It gets better................Decided to go online and try for a cheaper quote and can get the same policy elsewhere for £88. I can even get a better policy including breakdown cover, helmet and leathers cover, legal protection and something else (can't remember what) for £162p/y from, yes you've guessed it...........................BENNETS.

Re: Bennets Insurance

Bennetts are shit.

They have always been shit.

They always will be shit.

I rather poke a fork in my eye than insure through that bunch of robbing bastards.

Not that I'm bitter or anything

Re: Bennets Insurance

Have you tried Carol Nash?
All companies give a better price for new business, then most people just pay the next year, without checking.
With Carol Nash, when you get your renewall, phone and tell them it's too high, and 9 times out of 10,they reduce it.

Re: Bennets Insurance

Think I've said it before here but its maybe worth mentioning again...

Every year when the insurance is due (bikes, wife's car, house insurance) the rates go up at least a bit. I then go online to the insurance company, get a lower quote, then ring up the insurer and tell them the quote is less on line and they then drop the price to that. Done that for maybe 10 years now for all my policies.

The robbing bastards rely on you looking at the renewal and thinking, "Can't be arsed to see if its gone up" and you just renewing. If you challenge them they always drop the price. Saved me a small fortune over the years for the cost of a phone call.

Oh - works for the RAC too.
