Hi all

Got insurance with Footman James, this year, because one of the things they included in the policy as standard is breakdown cover with a 24 hour help line. Great I thought no problems if I break down ring them up. Crap was I wrong, their idea of a help line is an answer phone (a bloody answer phone! ) and they will then get back to you the next day during working hours. That’s a great help when you are broken down miles from home, at night, in the rain.

I am sick of the bad service and the stream of lying excuses that seem to come from businesses, once they have your money they are not interested. They had £339 of my hard earned money and then cheated me. So I won’t be using them again.

Maybe I am being unreasonable, but a really ticked off by it.

Did you ring "AXA Breakdown" or Footman James , because Footman James wont be there nights and weekends ,its down to the breakdown Co to deal with it.

I reckon they should give you a plastic card with all the relevant Nos on it so you can put it in your wallet.

Footman James uses lots of different insurance companies depending which one is best for your particular circumstances.
The number below is the 'Breakdown Cover' service they use for ALL.

Oh dear you should have rang 0800 132 278 for 24 hour breakdown cover and they would sort you out with the nearest service to where you are.

Sorry Baza, but I have the plastic card in front of me that they give you to put in your wallet. It states it is a 24 hour help line and i got an answer phone.

I phoned them today to complain and they apoligised stating that after 9.00 it is handled by a company in Ireland and it should have been answered but wasn't. Nice to get an apology but that did not help.

Dont want to run them down if it is a genuine mistake, and to be fair they have now given me two other telephone numbers to ring in the event of a break down.

However when they were needed I got an answer phone.

I think your attitude is dead on Schoe, insurance companies only get one chance in those circumstances.

Schoe then they are the ******* you said they were. I rang them when I saw your post and said...A mate of mine....and I was going to use them but.....and they came up with the number I posted. looks like they DON'T know what they are doing.

Hope you don't ever have to use it again mate. BTW Carole Nash can be good for some of us and do an excellent Breakdown Cover also a second bike is covered for the same amount...

Fecking nightmare this insurance job.
Went to FJ cause they were doing a good deal,CN wouldn't do my older bikes on the policy(bin there 20 years) so i went for these folks.So where do i go next year ?? Bollocks

I have heard good reports of Bennets MC insurance ...

and have personally not had any problem with Carole Nash - they insured my chop through Equity Red Star - registered as a 1972 BSA with a Harley 883 Sporster engine - no problem for around £200 third party etc - so they have my vote
