I bought the same oil filter wrench from Halfords.£4.99 ... it was , I think ,76mm ,with 14 serrations? or whatever they are called round the circumference. It was listed as being for Mercedes cars .As suggested ,take a filter with you to try it for size.

No, it isn't; it isn't a hex bolt at all, it's a T15 Torx.
