Thumbs down Road Tax up!

VED {Road tax} up for H-Ds, but not by much!

Vehicles registered in the Motorcycle tax class will see an increase in VED in line with inflation.
The new annual rates are as follows –

Motorcycles

Not over 150cc – no change £15.00
151 – 400cc - £31.00
401 – 600cc - £46.00
Over 600cc - £62.00

Tricycles

Not over 150cc – no change £15.00
All other tricycles - £62.00

Please note – These changes take effect from 23rd March 2006.

Re: Road Tax up!

Doesn't surprise me. Brown knows damn well that most motorcycles over 125cc are mainly used for leisure, and the instinctive killjoy in him will tax any item he sees as a "luxury" , whilst claiming that since he hasn't raised the rates for scooters etc he's not dissuading people from going on to two wheels.

Make no mistake about it, though, in Labour's idealised Utopia there WILL still be motorcyclists; all riding Honda 90's to the factory!

One thing Brown and his cronies tend to forget is, there are over a million active motorcyclists in this country, and nearly all of us are eligible to vote. In recent months, we've seen trail riding effectively banned, increased EU legislation regarding motorcycle tests, the ever-looming spectre of Type Approval, and now this; OK it's only a couple of quid, but given that car taxes have effectively gone DOWN, I don't think Mr. Brown or his cronies can be considered the motorcyclist's friend.

MAG are the motorcyclists friend. If you want to continue riding the way we do now I suggest that anyone who hasn't already done so sign up with them. Those that are already could perhaps encourage a friend
I think it's £20 at the moment for a years membership and apart from doing your bit to protect readers rights, you also get a cracking magazine

As a HDRCGB member we are affiliates so we can JOIN for £18.00 as I have. Worth every penny and you can then get their European Breakdown Cover for £40.00 specialising in bikes.
