| Harley Davidson Museum Harley Davidson Museum The Harley-Davidson motorcycle company is planning a museum to open in its hometown, Milwaukee, in 2008. The company will start construction this spring. In addition to the museum, the Menominee Valley site will include a public river walk, retail space, restaurant and special-events rooms. The museum will feature motorcycles from the company's collection of more than 400. It includes a 13-foot-long "King Kong," which had been customized over a 40-year period; Harley-Davidson's serial No. 1 cycle from 1903; and Elvis Presley's 1956 Harley-Davidson KH motorcycle. Also on display will be posters, photographs, advertising, clothing, interactive exhibits and memorabilia, said museum director Stacey Watson. Details at www.h-dmuseum.com. |

| Re: Harley Davidson Museum
the MoCo had designs on an old brewery, I think it was, near the downtown about 6 years ago and planned to complete this huge project for the 100th. But the site proved unsuitable and they had zoning/council hassles, so they just stepped back and have now got everything right, it seems. Whatever we think of the MoCo, their own musuem will be an essential stop when it opens. Along with THIS place: http://www.wheelsthroughtime.com/ Consistently rated the best of its type in the USA. I have long wanted to visit. Anyone been there? *EVERY* bike in the museum can be started and ridden. And the owner chooses some and rides round the property on them daily. Cool..... |
