Re: Problems with the law

Why not try the friendly yes sir no sir approach
Ride along the street on a sunday mornin when he's washin his bike and have a chin wag about the weather/street crime/thugs/drugs/lowlife scum/ etc.etc. and let him see that you are in fact a normal caring person and pillar of society and member of the best harley club to be found this side of er' the Gobi

Then he might back off

If not...................

ride past his house at every opportunity in one gear lower than you would normally

Wacko

And there is the problem, he can shaft me in more than one hole.

I guess the reply I'm looking for here is "here's a pipe, nice and quiet with baffle A, swop it for baffle B and its smile time again"

I'm not after an ear bleeder, never was, but this potential problem could cause me some seriuos hassle if he's a F.u.c.W.i.t.

He ought to be glad I still don't run a GS850 with straight thru's....

Re: Problems with the law

what about these as an option.

Supertrapp fat shots, fully tuneable with their disc system, should be able to keep the Db down when I need to .

They come in at $800 or so, so a bit pricey.

Another alternative is these

These carry a TUV approval and E mark, they have a catalytic converter but are gonna cost $1200.

I have bail from the wife to spend that ...........fool

I thought that all legal exhausts had either a BS mark or en E mark of some sort?

Regulations for powered two and three-wheeled vehicles

(d) Exhausts - on motorcycles first used on or after 1 January 1985 the silencer which forms part of the exhaust system must be either:
(i) that with which the machine was first fitted; or
(ii) clearly and indelibly marked with :-
-the relevant BS marking BS AU 193/T2, BS AU 193a, 1990/T2, BS AU 193a, 1990/T3; or
-the relevant "e" marking to show compliance with EC Directive 89/235; or the relevant "e" marking to show compliance with Chapter 9 of EC Directive 97/24; or
-the name or trade mark of the manufacturer or marked with that manufacturer's part number - relating to it.
The European Community noise limits applicable to new motorcycles first used from 1 April 1991 are:
Motorcycle Category by cm3 Limits in dB(A)
Up to and including 80 cm3 = 77 dB(A)
Between 80 and 175 (incl.) cm3 = 79 dB(A) Above 175 cm3 = 82 dB(A)

7/24/EC, Chapter 9 will be 2dB(A) less than the above figures.
(Note: the precise regulations for motorcycle exhausts are complex and it is recommended that they are studied closely to obtain accurate and complete details of the requirements).
Before buying any replacement parts for systems listed in this section, riders should check for the relevant marks, where applicable. These will include an "e" mark for EC Directives, an "E" mark for ECE Regulations and "BS" for British Standards.
(Note: amateur motorcycle builders may be exempt from some or all of the requirements)

Re: Problems with the law

Does that mean that I can have no baffle at all if I was riding a 1945 750?
