Problems with the law

Local traffic cop has decided my pipes are too loud.....as I drive past his house very day and live in a cul de sac, difficult times.

What doesn't help is I'm a cop also, just a little more easy going.

I have Screamin Eagle 2 slips, suggestions... I do not want the stock pipes back on.

Vance and Hines quiet baffles, are they any good.

Any on else sourced some less barky pipes.

I need help....

OUCH!! That's a dilemma and a half.. No easy answers, as I strongly suspect that once he has decided that you are too noisy it will be difficult to retrieve the situation even with different pipes. Would you consider the aftermarket HD slip-ons? These are the ones with a Harley stamping on the body, and are reputedly louder than stock but not as loud as SEs.

Re: Problems with the law

Here we go again - I know I keep on whimpering on about it but the time is rapidly coming when loud pipes will as popular as the plague. I had fitted to my Dyna the Harley slip on slash cuts with the not so loud sound they were in my opinion superb - really throaty bark as you put on the power but street legal - would like some for the new softail - but no longer available. Mine will appear on e-bay when the season kicks off!

Re: Problems with the law

I'm going to the States in May and was going to order sideshots with some quiet baffles, don't know now.

Apparently this guy would shop his granny. But I'll fight him on the beaches before I put those stock mufflers on.

Sypertrapps, I have 2-1s one the softail and have played around with the tuning discs, it runs better than ever and is not over noisey. It would be too quite for some, but I like the sound. Throaty. Also fine for MOT, so far.

Have a look at the National cycle website. (google it).
Adjustable pipes on the way.

Re: Problems with the law

Option No 1: Do him over .
Option No 2: As KT advises, SuperTrapps as they are tuneable and when you flick your wrist they give you the response and noise you are after - the best thing being you can squeaze by your Rozzer mate on a low throttle and all he hears is the good 'ol Rolling Thunder, rather than the throaty bark...
Anyway, is he traffic?....I bet he's not........
