Re: help needed 1340 advice

Guess you realise Dan that with the extra fuel tank capacity of a big twin over a sporty , you'll be able to make the monthly meets at wendover!!!!
The black dyna looks the mutts, go for it.
Are you p/x ing the sporty?

Re: help needed 1340 advice

i need to go finance because of a few things, but the main reason is that i had the sporty on finance and still owe money on it. im part exing and they will give me £3500, but the settlement figure is £4500.
the other main prob is my credit history, i got screwed by my ex wife in more ways than one a few years back and im still paying it all off. i earn a pretty good wage and can happily afford upto £300 a month for repayments, but i cant get the finance. my dad is taking out the finance on my behalf and i make the repayments. he wont take a loan out though so im stuck with finance.
paperplane, its not the fuel fill upis that put me off wendover, its the distance and time it would take to get there, i work shifts so i dont get as much time as i would like some evenings but hopefully i will get there at some point.
i just know that after riding a big twin, i know i need one! it just felt so much more right than my sporty, more natural to ride, safer due to the extra power, i could actually out accelerate a car at over 60! it just fit me a lot better than my sporty.
i may not get the black dyna but i will hopefully get something sorted, and i dont mind customising it myself.

Dan, best bide your time and wind up getting what you really want, rather than settling for a substitute.

The bike you posted is a beauty, and you probably need to go out of your way to get it, but if you know you want to, then you really have to!

Re: help needed 1340 advice

well, in the end after a lengthy chat with the dealer, and a few testrides i have gone the whole hog as it were, and gone for a new softail standard. its the platinum finish which looks pretty nice, and its soooooo smooth to ride! i was at 90 without even knowing it and there were no vibes at all! i had a go on a fatboy which was my fave harley til i rode it today, i just didnt find it right, it may have been down to the footboards, which just got in the way, but it didnt handle as well as the standard. i guess thats down to the 200 rear and 21 inch front which is the same as my sporty. and to top it all off, the insurance is only £140 more than my sporty, but its £70 cheaper than the 1340 mreg dyna i took for a test!!!
just waiting on the finance man now, but all looks good so far!

Re: help needed 1340 advice

yay! im now the proud owner of a softail standard platinum 2006 model! i just have to wait to pick it up now! i cant wait!
what do i have to do with regards running in? ive had a new suzuki before but its the first time ive had a new harley, and i guess the process might be different, last time i went with the run it as normal from new, varying the gears and not babying it approach.
so , what delights do i have to look forward to with owning a softie? its standard at the min, but a stage one will come soon, just not at the dealer, they want £900 for it!

very happy!
