Loud pipes in Switzerland!

Hi

Looking for a bit of advice. Have got a WIMA international rally coming up in August which I've committed to. Really looking forward to it, but have just changed my bike to a fatboy with screaming eagle pipes.

Does anyone know if this will cause me probs with the local constabulary ... as I hear they do fairly hefty on the spot fines for offences?!?

Cheers
Ruth

Re: Loud pipes in Switzerland!

Hi
I have ridden my bike in Switzerland two years running, and never had a problem that was two years ago.

I was running Screaming Eagle slash cuts the first time and the second time was running V & H two into one, I think if you abuse it you take the risk but we stand that chance anywhere

Switzerland has one of the highest concentrations of motorcycles anywhere in Europe.

Now Munich that is a different kettle of fish, they will be on your back pretty heavy if your pipes are too loud

Also check if you'r going on a motorway in Switzerland..you'll need a certificate (approx £20) to go on them..

Back roads are fine.

Re: Loud pipes in Switzerland!

After living in Switzerland for a year, some of there motoring laws seem really extreme, It's virtually impossible to modify any swiss vehicle in any way, many types of car & bikes are banned completely. for not compliying to their emission laws,

Geneva has four lanes of traffic for public vehicles, and only two for private,- you break any laws you get very heavy instant fines, speeding is vigorously controlled and has heavy on the spot fines, and almost all the main roads and motorways are heavily tolled.

Saying that running with British plates, I think the polizei tend tend not to be so strict,- And if all else fails, theres no legislation for them to collect fines from the UK, if you don't pay them. -but just be carefully if you plan to go back.

Absolutely true though Simon

And I am not sure about Austria at the moment.

Faakem See last year had problems at the rally in Sept, which has always been one of the best rallies that I have ever been to set around a lake and all the different villages have different music and beer etc.

Its always been brill but ... last year VW Golf Owners Club had a rally and upset the locals ... so when the H-D- Rally came up in Sept the old bill were on everyones back, so this year I dont know what is going to happen ...some are saying it will never be the same again after that, and it has always been so good that everything is always re-booked when you get to the rally for the next year ;)

When you see the views in Switzerland that £20 is well worth it.
