Re: Norway 2006 [superally]

Day 5 "The ride home"
Woke up early and its Monday the superrally is finally over and after looking forward to the rally for months its gone in a flash, but thats the nature of the beast.Well its me and john off for our final breakfast and to get ourselves breathalised as its not unusual for the boys in blue to set up road blocks a few miles down the road from a rally, well we both pass with flying colours ,kidneys working on overtime .
We say our goodbyes to the rainy city mob who are heading to the Twenty rally and to Wurzell and Duncan and Mark.
Now on the way home we are jioned by chris "Hover"northeast rep and his mate big Al,so now there are 6 of us travelling together.
We leave the rally site about 11.30am its sunny but very cold as we head south towards Lillehammer on the E6,the plan is to pick up the 4 and then cut accross country and head for the 7 after leaving the 4 we climb and go over the mountains towards Gol, its still cold and we stop for a photo and a group pee[which strangely the ladies for go this pleasure]no sense of comunity spirit the girls Now these roads are fantastic ,1 their empty and secondly the scenary is just beautiful ,pine trees are everwhere and your just riding through a wilderness,we pull into a small village and stop for coffee and petrol after a quick stop were off again and were climbing again ,now were back into ski country and we are so high up what trees there are are very stunted,by now the weather is getting much better ie its nice and warm and i feel like singing at the top of my voice,we stop for another photo as we go around the top of the Hardangervidda and get a photo of everybody lying in the snow, the lakes at the top of the mountains are still frozen. We stop for petrol again and its only about 80 miles to Eidfjord our planned stop for the night. We arrive in Eidfjord about 7pm and get something to eat at a small cafe,we get lucky and book into a chalet at about 300 Kronner per couple for the night,we all have showers and then its back over the footbridge to a small cafe ,we grab some seats outside and grab some beers .We all crash out about 12 ,wev'e covered 215 miles.
Day 6
We leave about 11am and decide to stop at Odda for something to eat, its about 40 miles along the Fjord to Odda.We all have a pizza and then its off again as we want to cover a lot of miles so that we can have a relaxed ride to the ferry on Wednesday,we climb ever upwards as we leave Odda only stopping for a quick photo and a drink at a waterfall. Now we are hitting tunnel country and these tunnels are bloody long,we're right on top of the Hardangervidda again and the trees are gone again and theres snow at the side of the road again, eventually we come off the Hardangervidda and stop for a coffee at Haukeligrend, before hitting the 9,now this road is another bikers paradise its got everything, mountains ,trees, rivers ,bends oh yeh its empty as well
We stop at a campsite at Rysstad and book into a Hutte ,we grab something to eat and grab a few beers, before hitting the sack.
miles covered about 160 miles .
Day 7
After fried Eggs for breakfast we leave about 12 for the 85 miles to Kristiansand and the ferry .The ride was once again fantastic and we just ambled along arriving at Kristiasand about 2pm ,we sat on the dockside waiting for the boat to arrive from Gothenburg.
We spent a pleasant evening in the Admiral bar and then in the caberet bar before crashing out.
The ship docked on time but we all got held up at customs,we lost Big Al and Chris at customs ,me ,karen and Ann and john rode together before splitting up at Scotch corner, the holiday over.
Thanks to Wurzel for the ferry tickets[booked through club scheme]
Thanks to the Norwegian Harley club
Thanks to everybody i partied with, you made it a great rally
And ive booked my tickets for [Holland next years superally venue] already.
Miles covered in Norway about 800,and Colin the bike ran great and its more comfortable than the Dyna
