Angry Back tyre woo's

Having discovered the source of my very very slow punture (3 or 4 psi over a week) a screw in my back tyre , just before leaving for Ashburton thought as long as I take it easy all will be ok, which luckily it was.

So anyway yesterday, been completly skint at the moment phoned mr ultraseal guy and told him the prob ........... he says “yeah no problem, sort those all the time” so he comes over checks it and says “yep fine can do that no probs”.

Deflates the tyre squirts the old ultraseal in and re-inflates......... I unscrew the srew carefully from the tyre ......... and sure enough ultraseal bubbles out then seals..... re-inflate to the propper psi ........... job done, me thinks

Anyway he says take it out and get some heat in the tyres to seal it fully ....... so double check psi before I go ......... still ok ......... go for a ride steady for the first 10 - 15 miles or so then start to build some speed up to get some decent heat it.

Next thing ‘bang’ back tyre blows out ......... manage to hang on and pull the bike over (thank f*ck there was nothing coming the other way). Luckily, had slowed down to about 30 at the time, cause had been doing 60 / 70 a few seconds before.

Anyway result orange and black xlr now covered in electric blue utraseal sh*t which had blown out all over the place and the bike, completley f*cked rear tire, and stuck in pompy for 2 hours waiting for a recovery truck of which I had to pay for the last 5 miles home

Anyway snotty phone call this morning to mr ultraseal who is .......... "ohhh most surprised....... never had that happen before" ........... no shit sherlock ......... thanks for that feel a whole lot happier now ..... apprently "all sorts of guys have this done even on track bikes and have never had a problem" ............. rather them than me !

I guess the moral of the story ............

dont try to f*ck around with tyres to save money

There is no point in having a mobile if you can only use it for about a minute before it goes flat because you couldn’t be arsed to charge it (thanks for mrs B for that helpful tip)

Not a good idea to go out riding without your wallet ........ especially if your phones flat (yep and that one ……….. shes just full of them)

Last but most important ........... always …….. but always …….. take for fags out with you no matter how long you think you'll be cause you never know how long you'll be sat around !

Bollox’d off of Bursledon

I don't know any professional tyre fitter who recommends that stuff, it just masks the problem and lulls people into a false sense of security.
It's rubbish.

Re: Back tyre woo's

as an ex tyre fitter of bikes, cars and truck tyres i have seen the mess this stuff makes

oh you mean you carnt fix it says mr punter after having gallons of crap pumped in his tyres to stop punctures and hasnt worked,

that will be new tyre plus cost of cleaning your wheel of blue or green snot

never have and never will put this tyre repair stuff in my tyres, apart from causing wheel balance probs and making mess

i guess everyones own choice

Ultraseal: I use it. I like it. I don't know its there. I made it home. I don't think I would have without it. I can wash it off with water. I don't have to check my pressure so often because they are more constant. But what do I know ?

Re: Back tyre woo's

I have to say I would never dream of using it as a puncture repair, but I do feel that it may slow a puncture enough to prevent a catastrophic blow out, anything that would allow the tyre to deflate slower in the event of a puncture cannot be all bad

can it?
