| Best cleaning products
Hi there guys so I know that every company try to put onto new owners of their motorcycles their own brand of cleaning products but is the Harley range of chrome polishers and wheel cleaners any better than something you would find in Halfords. What do people think? is it worth spending that few extra quid at the HD dealership? thanks Troy |

Troy, I wash my RK with normal car shampoo/hot water and sponge....leather it off...allow it to dry completely and if it needs a polish i use normal turtle wax, this brings it up nicely. Steve |

I use muckoff from Busters to get rid of most of the crap, and then I use ST100 or a car shampoo to clean it followed by a quick rub down with an ST100 microfibre cloth (gets rid of the water n stuff without leaving marks) then I use ST100 to add the shine. I've had my FXSTBi for over a year now and ridden about 7K so far but I've only cleaned it about 3 times (it's in the garage now covered in bugs), and no I'm not a fair weather biker - I just don't ride it when the salt is on the road if I can help it! I hate cleaning bikes and this setup is the easiest n quickest I've found. The whole thing is up to you - do you like polishing or would you rather be on the road/in a pub. I know what I prefer ![]() I don't want to sound like I'm promoting ST100 'coz I'm not as there are lots of other products out there that are just as good, and as your original post hinted at, are more cost effective than the HD branded stuff - the choice is yours |

| Re: Best cleaning products
ive tried various different products for cleaning and polishing the bikes and i was using auto proud with very good results, however when that ran out i got hold of a few meguirs products which i have to admit is very very good stuff. the shampoo gets all the crap off, even tar and brake dust on the wheels with out a problem. then i use the glass cleaner on the chrome, and then cover the lot with gold class wax polish and it looks great afterwards. its pricey but well worth it, and it lasts a long time too. dan |

window /glass cleaner (esp with Lime to cut thru any greasy marks eg finger prints)) is best for chrome and stainless as it's liquid and does the biz. That and the magic microfibre cloth bring things up a treat.

Waxoyl and Duck Oil. The two leading products for my bike. Spray everything in Duck Oil apart from the frame and underside and waxoyl that instead. My bikes are always phenomenally clean and rust-free - under the layer of protective crud that soon builds up |

S100 Total bike cleaner. Spray it all over, leave for a couple of minutes then wash it all off thoroughly. S100 Engine Brightener works like magic on all black parts of the bike: Wrinkle black, Calipers etc. I use Pig Spit Wax for the paintwork, don`t know if it`s available there though?

Autoglym shampoo Autoglym wax Neverdull wadding for the chrome Cif bathroom cleaner for the whitewalls Takes about 4 hours to do it right and it's a right pain in the @rse. ![]() But worth it when it's finished. Then take it for a spin and it usually pi55es down. ![]() Thats Life |
