Softail Fatboy - W&F - URGENTLY WANTED

Hello all,

I am hoping someone can help me find a Softail Fatboy but cusomtised as per Warneke & Faust with a 240 rear end. I have only recnetly passed my motorbike test and have always wanted a Harley (my wife calls it a mid life crisis). I know I can buy one from W&F for roughly £17K or by from Harley and get it customised for about the same price.

As I've only recently passed I don't want to spend that much money in case it's not for me and the fact that I would only ride it in the summer.

So not sure if you can help but in a nutshell I need to find a used or second hand Fatboy with W&F customisation - happy to pay good money and can view anywhere in the UK.

thanks,

J

I would seeing as you are new to riding get a Fatboy for about 10k from ebay or any private sale see HERE
then get used to it on the odd sunny day throughout the winter as you said you will only use it in the summer.....and there ain't that much left!

Then as a winter project if you are happy and it's not a 5 minute wonder/midlife crisis get it into a local independent and get your 240 conversion done ready for the summer of 2007.

Also pop into and see 'Grizzlys' in Folkestone. CT19 6DD. 01303 240 440

p.s. I moved the post so you will get more views/answers than just in your local region 17 but the redirection is showing.;)

Sorry m8 do not want to be a party pooper but I would be seriously against that one. Buy a Sportster first keep it for 6 months to a year learn to ride. Then go for a normal big twin before you start putting a fat ass on it. It will ride totally different get some experience behind you first.
I have been riding since I was 16 off and on I have just fitted a 200 on my softail there is a small change in handling but anything over you will notice a difference.

Any 230+ rear end is going to cost 3-4K+ for parts and fitting.
When you add that to the price of a decent bike you could buy this----

Cool bike, but it'll always be sombody else's custom.
And Music is right, my bike runs on a 230 rear and a 150 front tyre, and the handeling is "interesting" to say the least - especially around town.

Hello Sharkey, sorry mate but I agree with Music on this one, too much too young as someone once said..
If you are adamant though and fancy a Sporty, mine's available, the pics on me avatar.
Take care and ride safe, whatever you get.

Re: Softail Fatboy - W&F - URGENTLY WANTED

It's your dream Shark, but have to agree with all the above, and a heavily customised 1/3 ton motorcycle is really not the thing for someone who has just passed their test. You have to ask yourself why you would want that. Heavily customised Harleys are there to be looked at, and useability is heavily compromised. Do you want to use it, or be looked at using it...?
Have you ever ridden a Harley of any type?
Any dealer would offer you a test ride (on a very large deposit!) and if you haven't tried one already that would give you a good feel of what it's like to ride a stock one. Bear in mind that you don't see a fat back end when you're riding it, and it has no benefits at all, apart from looks (if you like that kind of thing). Just for comparison, wideness is a comparative thing. Here's my mate's bike, based on a stock FXST, nice paint, and a wheel that looks pretty wide, but it's only a 200, and 200 is stock for '06 and onwards..
Oh, and it's excruciating to ride....
And it has the ground clearance of a roller skate...
Whatever you choose to do, hope it works out for you! ;)

Re: Softail Fatboy - W&F - URGENTLY WANTED

This is my bike it’s not remotely practical, its slow, heavy, uncomfortable, does not corner to well, sprays me with crap any time its more than damp, can’t carry luggage or the O’Lady & it costs big $ to get bits for.---not ideal for a new rider.
But- once it’s on a good stretch of road there’s nothing like it, it rumbles along and has a character like nothing else, and it always gets me there.
If I realy wanted sensible/practical,- I'd get a proper job, buy a suit, and trade it for a ford fiesta.- & none of them is ever going to happen.

Hi All,

Thanks for all your advice etc and its much appreciated but i must be honest I am very much 100% behind L.V.s comment regarding the suit etc.

I am not a comformist and hence need to do things that I feel are beyond the boundaries of normality and hence although I take on board all your comments I am still very sure and very focussed on getting the bike of my dreams. Afterall if it is not what I deem the dogs b***ocks then I would feel short changed and probably wouldn't bother riding it that much......

Again thanks for all your comments but does anyone else know where I can buy this bike from.........

Thanks,

Shark007
