Harley-Davidson Reader

BOOK REVIEW

January 4, 2006

MOTORCYCLE NEWS, UK -- The history of the legendary Harley-Davidson motorcycle has been collated in a new book.

The Harley-Davidson Reader contains a collection of more than 30 articles old and new. Reading them you can learn everything about the company from birth to the modern day revival of choppers, bobbers and retro rides.

Also featured are forgotten pastimes and technological developments which are all complimented with photographs.

There are 200 photographs from a French daredevil souvenir card, circa 1910 of a Corbeille de la Mort to Clark Gable on his big twin in the 1930s.

This book will be a good read for Harley enthusiasts and those fascinated by the American way of life.

A 1914 article written by Arthur Davidson is also featured railing against the dangers of motorcycle racing. Legendary custom bike builder, Arlen Ness provides his thoughts on his first Harley and the early days of ramhorn handlebars.

The foreword is written by Jean Davidson, granddaughter of founder Walter Davidson.

The Harley-Davidson Reader is available from December 2006, priced £16.99.

Also available at "amazon.co.uk" for £11.21, although I don't think that includes delivery.
