Re: A dealer's perspective - life at Oxford H-D

Our other bike dealers are:

Abingdon Honda, Reading Honda, Performance Triumph in Cheltenham and Performance Suzuki in Tewkesbury.

We're also in the car business at Parklands Audi, Blade Volkswagen and Blade SsangYong, all in Gloucester.

Cheers

John

p.s., Moley, we've got a used '07 CVO Dyna in red coming in this week!

Welcome to the forum John. As you're in the the trade, we have a few minor protocols, see here for details.

Hope you've got a strong sense of humour - this lot here can be a handful

Hi Roger, and thanks for the welcome.

I've read the Forum rules, and will do my best to adhere to them. I've taken particular notice of the rules with regard to advertising and selling.

I've been a bit surprised by the reaction to my presence in your Forum, but it seems generally to be positive. I'm not going to insult anyone's intelligence on here by suggesting anything other than I hope club members decide to give Oxford H-D a try, but I also hope that your members might get a bit of an insight into what Harley dealers in general live with on a daily basis. For example, I replied to a posting earlier in this thread where I referred to the Financial Services Authority. The very existence of that government-formed, though independant body forces us into conducting ourselves in a very specific way that is ultimately to the customer's benefit. Norra lorra people know that!

Anyway, thanks again for the welcome, and I hope what I post on here as time goes by is informative, if not entertaining!

BTW, the sense-of-humour meter's set on max!

Cheers

We have a couple of vacancies at Oxford H-D. We need a new MotorClothes Sales Assistant and a Parts & Accessories Sales Assistant. I've posted an ad in the Miscellaneous Classifieds on here.

Cheers

Sorry Harry. No house, and I think it's too far for you to commute!

The picture of some of my esteemed colleagues in this fine Club doing the "suits you" routine is going to be difficult to shift

Re: A dealer's perspective - life at Oxford H-D

Hi Principal

I am very impressed that a dealer is prepared to come onto this club website and be prepared to stand up and answer questions - there will be some tricky ones I am sure but so far honest answers have been provided - I hope you keep up the contact. Who knows you might even join the club

Dozer and I have visited Oxford HD on our way to somewhere (cant remember.... ) and were happy with the reception we got - no-one jumped on us for a sale and we were left to browse round the whole place with no interference. It is my pet hate to be approached for a sale when I dont want to buy - conversely its very frustrating to have to hunt for someone to buy something off - some people can be soooo difficult!!

We will definitely come up to Oxford again for a look round - specially if there are any sale days advertised ........

Glad you had a good visit.

We don't like to pounce, but we will at least acknowledge you and offer help if you want it.

(Groan. I know. I'll get me coat!)

Please , Please give me a job Mr Principal.

I have many years experience of debt recovery,- & could guarantee nobody would leave the store with a penny in there wallets,- no matter how much they try to resist.

Over the the last two years I've learned many helpfully phrases off the Scottish contingent here, so I know just the right terminology to use if any chancer tries to make a warranty claim/returns goods or such like.

I am perfectly willing to re=train if my skills are a little rusty, or if the requirements for working in a MoCo dealership have changed since my last visit to a store back in the day.

Do I get a black company bike??

Looking to hearing back from you soon. Regards L.V.
