Re: PLEASE READ THIS: (MID) holds insurance details of 34 million vehicles

Just checked my three vehicles (all of which are insured 'fully comp') two came back as uninsured, the third came back as insured but it's listed as the wrong model. All of the policies are over six months old, way beyond the 7 days they have to update the database. So at this point I'm liable to have them impounded if a roadside check is carried out by the Police.

That's why when you watch the police programmes and they do a spot check they are not always right. DVLA is not always correct.

My advice is get in touch with your insurance company asap.. A mate of mine had his car impounded because it was not on the database. It cost him a lot to get it back. This was later paid by his insurance broker but the hassle and walk home are worth avoiding.

Re: PLEASE READ THIS: (MID) holds insurance details of 34 million vehicles

Just checked my bikes, the Sportster is ok but my old GTR which i had trouble taxing last month isn't on it. Looked at my Certificate of Insurance and the Reg number was wrong - funny how the teenager in the post office didn't notice and let me tax it with the certificate after it didn't show up on the database....

For £4 I used it to check details of car that hit mine last week.
He reported he was with AA insurance but AskMid came back with Direct Line and a number to contact them, well worth the £4 in my opinion.

I think I saw somewhere that one company owns the other,or the AA is just the broker.
